Making New Year’s resolutions is a common practice for most Americans. It’s kind of fun to think about resetting and striving for a “new you” in the new year. While setting the goals is exciting, the devil is in the details. Let’s take a look at what our members’ resolutions are, how well everyone is progressing, and ways to help make those goals a reality.

What to do if you fall behind
Remember that a year is 365 days long; if you start to lag on your milestones, you can always adjust your goal, refocus, and commit to carrying through to the end of the year. Instead of looking back at what you didn’t accomplish, continue to look forward to your next goal.
And try the 90/10 rule: If you put in the effort 90 percent of the time, you’re still highly likely to meet your goal. Oh, and here’s a bit of news: If you’ve ever heard that it takes about 21 days to develop a new habit or break an old one, science suggests that the actual time is closer to 66 days. So, whatever you start, stick to it for at least a couple months before modifying your goal.
